Hugh McCartney, Chairman
A seasoned executive with over 25 years experience in the computer software industry, Hugh recently served as senior vice president of sales and services at enterprise software company Merant, based in San Francisco, California. Prior to joining Merant, he held senior sales and general management positions in Europe with database vendors Sybase Inc. and Ingres Inc. and application software company MSA Inc.

Formerly an independent director of Cloudmark's board, McCartney also served as chairman of UK-based Scapa Technologies, an innovator in security testing solutions; as an executive and chairman of Neverfail, a global provider of fail-safe technologies; and as chairman of Centennial Software, a developer of network discovery tools. As non-executive Chairman of KVS plc, McCartney was responsible for facilitating the acquisition of KVS plc by Veritas for US $225 million on August 31st, 2004. In addition, McCartney has held board positions with several European software companies, both venture funded and publicly traded.


Sir Peter Michael
Sir Peter Michael brings a wealth of information to Quask’s board from his 44 years as an entrepreneur in Europe’s Silicon Valley. Currently, Michael serves as a Director of GCap media plc, as Chairman of The Pelican Cancer Foundation and Chairman of The Greenham Common Community Trust. Michael was the founder of Micro Consultant’s Group and from this base he spun out and was the driving force behind Quantel, a highly successful digital technology company.

In the 1980’s, Michael’s private interests merged with UEI plc and he became its Chairman. In 1989, UEI merged with Carlton Communications plc and Michael was knighted for his services to industry. During that same year, Michael took over the reigns and was named Chairman of Cray Electronics plc. In 1992 Michael co-founded Classic FM, the first national commercial radio station in the UK. Classic FM has since merged with GCap Media plc and now forms part of the largest commercial radio group in the UK.


Hugh Fitzwilliam-Lay
Hugh Fitzwilliam-Lay was co-founder and majority owner of Citipost Inc., a logistics company based in New York that was sold in January 2000 to the British Post Office. Citipost started in Manhattan and concentrated on the next day delivery of business mail to, from and between Central Business Districts. When it was sold, it had over 20 offices globally and over 400 employees.

Hugh is currently Managing Partner of BFL&P which is an early stage venture capital investor and has stakes in 15 companies. The partnership has an in-depth knowledge of the enterprise software market with 5 investments in this area, the other areas of knowledge being mobile technologies and supply & logistics. Hugh also has an interest in Venrex 1, a small venture capital company.


Freddy May, Founder & CEO
Freddy has over 20 years of software experience, and Quask is the second software venture Freddy has founded to date. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Freddy had helped a number of companies, most notably Dun & Bradstreet, to adopt an innovative and often unorthodox approach to technology in order to improve their operations and improve service delivery. After attending the University of Zurich, Switzerland, Freddy has worked in several European countries and is currently based in Palo Alto, USA.
