| 1. Specify the datasource
From within the form, you specify which ODBC datasource you wish to link to. This datasource is on (or accessible from) your desktop PC. The necessary data fields are then automatically uploaded to the server at the notification stage.
2. Map form fields to datasource fields
You can map any form field to a field in the specified ODBC datasource. This set of all fields you map to are then uploaded to the server and will populate the form. If you have field data that you do not wish the user to see, then you can map to a hidden form field.
3. Notify the respondents
The last step is to notify the list of respondents of the form. FormArtist provides a full notification facility that detects if you are mapping to an ODBC datasource. One of the fields in the datasource will be an email address. FormArtist then generates the complete list of data and uploads it to the server. Once uploaded, the emails are generated and sent out. The respondents then click on the link within the email and the form is loaded along with the relevant data for each respondent.
4. Updating the ODBC datasource with respondent data
You can optionally specify that certain mapped fields are returned to your datasource. Whenever you retrieve data, the ODBC datasource for the forms returned will be updated.
